Trauma
As a primary subspecialty of orthopedic surgery, trauma surgery focuses on treating injuries to the musculoskeletal system caused by accidents, falls, or other traumatic events. It commonly involves procedures such as fracture repair, reconstruction of complex injuries, and stabilization of damaged bones and joints. The goal is to restore function, promote healing, and improve mobility, allowing patients to regain their quality of life and return to their daily activities.
The Orthopedic Trauma Surgery division within the University of Minnesota's Department of Orthopedic Surgery has developed a highly respected trauma program, serving not only the Twin Cities, but also the broader regional community. Our expert faculty are renowned for delivering exceptional clinical care to patients with complex injuries, conducting groundbreaking research, and providing comprehensive training to fellows, residents, and medical students.
