Tracks
For residents with a strong passion and interest in medical education or research, the program offers two longitudinal tracks designed to provide targeted mentorship, scholarship, and skill development during the neurology years.
Neurology Educator Track
In partnership with the adult neurology residency, residents interested in academic medical education can participate in a unique, longitudinal curriculum and mentorship.
Residents receive formal training in curriculum development, teaching, administrative skills, and leadership development. Through guided mentorship, residents develop their educational portfolio and complete a scholarly or curriculum development project. Interested residents are invited to apply in the spring of their PGY-2 year, with selection for participation at the beginning of their PGY-3 year.
SPRINT
The program invites residents to apply to the Scientific Pathway and Research in Neurology Training Track. This program includes 1:1 mentored research experience for residents interested in being leaders in academic neurology. The program pairs up to one resident per year with a mentor to help build their CV and publication history, with a goal of nurturing an application for early career funding awards. Acceptance to the program affords protected time on elective rotations, and at least 3 months of dedicated time for research. Basic coursework is also offered to enhance familiarity with IRB procedures, research methodology, and statistics. Applications are solicited during the winter of PGY-2 year, with selection of a mentor in the spring of the PGY-2 year.
Global Track
The Department of Pediatrics has a robust global health track which welcomes all participants. This program enables trainees to participate in clinical and curricular experiences suitable to their interests and time commitment. Learn more here.
