Faculty Spotlight: Daniel Zarama, MD
The Interventional Radiology division welcomed Daniel Zarama, MD in January 2026. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Zarama grew up in Woodbury, MN and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Having trained in our department, Dr. Zarama says, "I already knew the caliber of people and procedures that are done in Interventional Radiology at the U of M. I wanted to return to this department and once again work with such a wonderful group of partners and trainees." One of his professional interests is renal denervation, a new procedure to treat resistant hypertension. He hopes to make the University of Minnesota a referral center for this therapy and continue expanding access to this new procedure.
Outside of work, Dr. Zarama and his wife, Divya Shenoy, MD spend most of their time playing and chasing after their toddler. They love having family and friends over to their home in the evenings, whenever possible.
