Faculty Spotlight: Katherine Chung, MD
Dr. Katherine Chung joined the Thoracoabdominal Imaging division in August of this year. She comes to us from Stony Brook University Hospital in New York, where she completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency and MBA. She also spent a year at Johns Hopkins University where she completed a cross-sectional body imaging fellowship. “Everyone I’ve talked to about UMN says how wonderful the people are within this department. I have visited Minneapolis a couple of times in the past and fell in love with the city, people, and food. I frequent New York City, and I can tell you that there are no burgers as good as Red Cow and no pizza as good as Red Wagon!”
As a chief resident at Stony Brook, Dr. Chung loved mentoring junior residents and introducing them to aspects of radiology outside of the reading room, such as advocacy through ACR and its local chapters. She also enjoyed doing educational exhibits and attending national conferences. Her future goal is to align her passions for travel and teaching to organize medical mission trips abroad.
Dr. Chung spent most of her childhood between Taiwan, Texas and the East Coast. She loves to travel. A few of her favorite places are the Italian Dolomites,Taj Mahal, and Zion National Park. She also enjoys exploring new coffee shops and restaurants - so please send her recommendations! At home she is busy tending to her bunnies, Patches and Flower.
