Faculty Spotlight: Michael Clifton, MD
Dr. Michael Clifon recently joined the Interventional Radiology division as an Assistant Professor. He is originally from Jacksonville, FL, and comes to us from the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW). During his time in TX, Dr. Clifton spent time traveling to southern border towns serving rural communities with limited access to healthcare and advanced IR techniques, such as peripheral vascular disease, aorta injuries, PE DVT, catheter-directed cancer therapies, and bone augmentation.
With a particular interest in treating vascular conditions, such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD), pulmonary embolism (PE), and deep vein thrombosis (DVT), Dr. Clifton especially enjoys being able to provide maximum effectiveness for his patients through minimally invasive techniques. He is also excited to get involved in the educational activities for residents and fellows here at the University.
His wife’s family is from Minnesota, so upon her graduation from a fellowship in plastic surgery, they decided to settle in the Twin Cities because “it seems like a wonderful place for families.” Dr. Clifton loves playing basketball or hitting the gym in his free time. Being outdoors in nature is very important to him and his family, so on the weekends when he’s not indoors watching sports, you will surely find them outside somewhere!
