Message from the Program Director

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Child Neurology Residency!  We are thrilled to launch our categorical child neurology residency program, joining our partner programs in Pediatrics and Adult Neurology.  As the Program Director, I am honored to introduce you to a program intentionally designed to provide remarkable training in child neurology, centered on your unique goals and the needs of our diverse communities.

Our program is dedicated to providing a dynamic and supportive environment in which residents thrive both professionally and personally. Here at the University of Minnesota, we believe that exceptional training begins with a commitment to education and mentorship, clinical excellence, research & advocacy opportunities, and a collaborative approach to learning. Our diverse faculty, many of whom are recognized experts in their fields, are deeply invested in your success and growth.

Our program includes unique clinical training across four partner sites, each serving distinct and diverse patient populations while providing exposure to a variety of hospital systems and care delivery models. Our program is proud to offer curricula in medical education, research, quality improvement, and advocacy.

We look forward to discussing our program and the training opportunities at the University of Minnesota through virtual interviews in the fall of 2024. We are excited to meet the class of residents who will join us in advancing the field of child neurology and shaping the growth and development of our residency program.

Program Mission

To train clinically-oriented child neurologists who are well-equipped to practice in any setting, meeting the diverse needs of the communities, children, and families we serve, while emphasizing intellectual curiosity, commitment to advocacy, and lifelong learning.

Applicant Information

We are excited to be accepting applications in the fall of 2024 for the 2025 match! We will be recruiting for two PGY1 positions.

Application materials must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applicants must also register with the National Residency Matching Program.

For the 2025 ERAS® cycle, our program will be collecting and reviewing data from optional AAMC supplemental ERAS application. The supplemental application is designed to help applicants share more information about themselves and assist our program in finding applicants that fit our program’s setting and mission.

The supplemental ERAS application provides:

  • geographic preferences (by division and by urban or rural setting); 
  • information about an applicant’s most meaningful experiences and other impactful life events, if applicable; and
  • program signals.
