Truong “Huy” Do, MD

Dr. Do performed his training at the University of Minnesota’s Neurosurgery residency. He is a general neurosurgeon with clinical interests in both spine and cranial care.

While in residency, he developed clinical interests in cranial and spinal neurotrauma - admiring the remarkable capacity for the neurological system to recover from such injuries. His research efforts are focused on leveraging the use of national databases to identify disparities in neurosurgical care. He hopes to better understand the impact of patients' social, ethnic, economic, and racial backgrounds on the receipt of neurosurgical care and on their long-term outcomes. With the knowledge gained from this research, he hopes to improve the delivery of care to patients with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

Dr. Do’s clinical interests encompass all aspects of neurosurgical care including degenerative, traumatic, and neoplastic pathologies. He aims to provide holistic care to patient’s problems that encompasses a patient’s wishes and goals. As a physician, he aims to present patients a thorough set of surgical, minimally invasive, and non-surgical options to address their concerns.

In medical School, he earned several scholarships and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He also holds a BS in Biology from the U of M.

In his spare time, he enjoys single-track mountain biking, cooking Vietnamese food, listening to podcasts on road trips, and spending time with his wife and two children.
