Doctoral Degree, Clinical Psychology, Kent State University

Summary

Dr. Wozniak received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Kent State University in 1997, internship at the University of Minnesota in 1997, and a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at the University of Minnesota in 1999. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Psychology. He is a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Dr. Wozniak runs the Child and Adolescent Neuropsychology Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry where he sees patients with a variety of neurodevelopmental, neurological, and psychiatric conditions. He also trains graduate students and clinical psychology interns in the practice of clinical neuropsychology. His clinical interests include neuropsychological evaluation of children with neurological and psychiatric disorders, consultation with schools regarding academic programming and modifications, and clinical training.

Dr. Wozniak's primary research interest is in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). He co-directs the University's FASD Program. Dr. Wozniak conducts advanced neuroimaging studies in FASD in conjunction with the University's Laboratory for Neuropsychiatric Imaging, where he directs the neurocognitive section. Dr. Wozniak's research group is part of the Collaborative Initiative on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (CIFASD) and is involved in CIFASD's ongoing multi-site imaging, neurobehavioral, genetic, and facial dysmorphology projects. In addition, Dr. Wozniak is currently conducting the first randomized controlled trial of choline supplementation in children with FASD - the goal of which is to develop a treatment for the neurodevelopmental aspects of the disorder.

Dr. Wozniak also does Diffusion Tensor Imaging and functional connectivity studies in childhood Myotonic Dystrophy and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). In the past, he has worked on projects examining the neurocognitive and neuroimaging aspects of psychiatric disorders in adolescents including patients with schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. He also has a general interest in psychometric and has been involved in the development of several neuropsychological instruments, including infant development and visual-perceptual processing measures. Dr. Wozniak has collaborated on a number of pharmaceutical trials involving children and adolescents. In addition, Dr. Wozniak directs the neurocognitive section of the Laboratory for Neuropsychiatric Imaging and collaborates with its director, Dr. Kelvin O. Lim, on numerous neuroimaging projects including studies of schizophrenia and drug and alcohol abuse.

Dr. Wozniak is a member of the International Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, Research Society on Alcoholism, the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Study Group (FASDSG), and the International Early Psychosis Association. He serves as a reviewer for a number of journals including JINS: the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society, Child Neuropsychology, Pediatric Psychology, ACER: Alcoholism, Clinical and Experimental Research, Neurotoxicology and Teratology, Development and Psychopathology, Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews, and Schizophrenia Bulletin among others. Dr. Wozniak is a longstanding member of the internship's Training Committee and is the Associate Director of the internship program.
