Psychology Practicum
Program Summary
Clinical practicum sites at the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences include assessment and/or psychotherapy training, and a wide variety of patients from early childhood to older adults, varying ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. Expert licensed PhD or PsyD psychologists provide close clinical supervision for clinical psychology, counseling psychology and school psychology students from the UMN and other psychology programs around the Twin Cities. Faculty present their training opportunities at the annual practicum fair in January. Practicum placements are offered at a wide array of specialty clinics.

Pediatric Psychology Internship (Psych/Peds)
Program Summary
The University of Minnesota Medical School Psychology Internship is a stimulating educational environment that is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association.
The aim of the University of Minnesota Medical School Psychology Internship is to prepare interns for professional practice and to meet the mental health needs of children and to function as psychologists in academic health centers or other clinical contexts.
The Internship has been continuously accredited since 1965 by the American Psychological Association making it the longest APA-accredited internship in this region, and is known for its quality assessment and improvement activities. It was awarded full accreditation for ten years in 2017 by the APA Commission on Accreditation.

Program Clinical Sites
The primary training activities are organized through three rotations:
- Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Pediatric Neuropsychology
- Pediatric Psychology
In general, limited clinical experiences within the third rotation or with other services may be negotiated at the discretion of primary supervisors and the supervisors of the third rotation. Detailed descriptions of rotations are given to interns at the beginning of the rotations and may be reviewed at the time of interviews for the internship.

Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowships

Social Work Internship
Program Summary
The Social Sciences Division incorporates Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) and Social Workers.
Our department offers Masters of Social Work field placements at the foundational and clinical level. MSW internship positions are offered in several programs in our outpatient psychiatry clinics and include work with adults, adolescents, and children as well as in specialty programs for first episode psychosis (NAVIGATE Program, Adult Strengths Program, Clinically High Risk) and the Treatment Resistant Depression Program. Internship roles may include assessment, coordination of services, individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy. Services are provided in person and via telehealth. Interns will participate in individual and group supervision.

Marriage and Family Therapy Internship
Program Summary

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences hopes to expand internship offerings to individuals pursuing training in couples/marriage and family therapy who are current participants in a higher education program. The department will provide supervision for learners as they practice diagnostic assessment and psychotherapy with individuals, couples, and families. Services are provided in person and via telehealth.
