I am Professor of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology in the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. I earned a degree in biology at Luther College and went on to complete my Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Iowa. Subsequently I completed a fellowship in clinical psychopharmacology and pharmacogenetics at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy as well as a master’s degree in clinical Investigation through the University of Iowa College of Medicine. I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist and a Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. My research has been supported through a variety of local, foundation, and NIH funding mechanisms. This work includes discovery and clinically applied psychopharmacology and pharmacogenomics research with a focus on examining genetic relationships with symptom improvement, side effects, and cognitive effects of medications to support mental health. I am also active in developing guidelines with the Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium (CPIC). I actively teach in many didactic courses, experiential rotations, and am an advisor for graduate students in the Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology PhD program.
