UIC/SCC One-Day Tissue Clearing Workshop - 10/9/2025
The University Imaging Centers (UIC) / Structural Circuits Core (SCC) invite you to a hands-on workshop exploring the science and application of the SmartBatch+ tissue clearing method for rapid and effective tissue clearing of rodent brains. The workshop will combine lectures on the principles of tissue clearing with practical wet lab sessions focused on sample preparation, device operation, and post-processing steps. Participants will gain insights on how to achieve maximum optical transparency while preserving sample morphology, antigenicity and endogenous fluorescence.
This one-day event offers researchers an opportunity to:
- Engage in discussions on brain clearing techniques
- Gain hands-on experience with the SmartBatch+ clearing method
- Observe live imaging demonstrations using light-sheet and confocal microscopy
This workshop is designed to both educate and foster collaboration, welcoming participants at all experience levels—from those new to tissue clearing to researchers, lab technicians, and core facility staff seeking to adopt a more automated, high-throughput workflow.
To ensure a high-quality, hands-on experience, attendance is limited to 6 participants. A boxed lunch will be provided to all attendees.
