Heidi Johng, MD
Hometown: Rochester, Minnesota
Undergrad: University of Wisconsin-Madison
Awards: Gold Humanism Honors Society
Medical Interests: Global/public health, gender surgery
Hobbies/Interests: There isn't a lot I'm not interested in - traveling, anything outdoors, eating, cooking, reading, music, sports, etc.
Why I chose Minnesota: I could go into how this program graduates excellently trained and well-rounded surgeons who are also fellowship competitive, but the main reason I chose to come to Minnesota for my plastic surgery residency is for the people. The surgery residents here are extremely supportive of each other and are a lot of fun to work with. I've also found the majority of the attendings to be very approachable and eager to teach. The Cities themselves have a lot to offer when it comes to culture, food, activities, and beer. And lastly (but most importantly), MSP is a surprisingly easily accessible international airport that has direct flight options to most places around the world.
