Surgery Ranks #4 in National Institutes of Health Funding

The Department of Surgery mission closely aligns with that of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which seeks fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness or disability. Through our translational research, innovative approaches, and commitment to excellence, we have continued to contribute to the broader goal of advancing human health and the well-being of our patients and communities. Collectively, we are driven by a shared vision of fostering healthier lives and creating positive impacts that resonate far beyond the confines of our laboratories.

I would like to recognize and thank each of you for your integral part in our 2023 National Institutes of Health Blue Ridge Ranking. To be ranked #4 is an incredible achievement, but it is an even better representation of the unwavering commitment of our faculty, staff, trainees, and research support services, to our department’s mission.
