Christopher Tignanelli, MD is a co-investigator in a new multi-site clinical trial led by the University of Minnesota Medical School is studying the effectiveness of metformin, a generic medication for type 2 diabetes, in the treatment of COVID-19.

In a groundbreaking study, University of Minnesota researchers including Richard Bianco, John P. Carney, and Matthew Lahti (Experimental Surgical Services) used a hybrid of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine to create heart valves that can grow with the recipient.

After University of Minnesota saved Tom Anderson as a child, the Alexandria man was happy to serve as a regent. In 1963, when Anderson was just 5-years-old, C. Brett Roach, a grad student in the Yamamoto lab, was selected for a predoctoral fellowship position on the University of Minnesota’s Targets of Cancer Training Program (T32 Grant).
