Federal Funding Opportunities
To search NIH funding opportunities visit the NIH search page. On this page, you may filter by a specific NIH center or a funding mechanism (R01, R21, K01, K08, etc.)
For NSF funding opportunities visit NSF.gov.
For DOD grants you can search through Grants.gov, or by visiting the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) site.
For a variety of funders, type in key words to Pivot. (Note: you can save your search after creating an account and have emails automatically sent to you when funding opportunities come up that match your search criteria.)
GrantForward is a funding opportunity database that was built by academics for researchers. They have a number of federal, state, foundation, and corporate sponsors.
State of Minnesota Resources

Internal Grants
There are several sources of internal (within the University of Minnesota) grants:
- The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR), including Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry, and Scholarship; matching funds; and Research Infrastructure
- The Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI)
- The Office of Academic Clinical Affairs (OACA) sometimes has funding announcements. You may sign up to be on their mailing list for new funding announcements.
