Medical Student Admissions Committee (MSAC)
The responsibilities of the MSAC include:
- developing medical student admissions policies that are bias-free and ensure consistency across campuses and programs;
- ensuring implementation of the admissions processes according to approved policies and procedures;
- reviewing data, including individual applications as necessary, to ensure appropriate admissions outcomes across campuses and programs; and
- overseeing final decisions regarding the admission of prospective students to the educational program leading to the MD and MD/PhD degrees.

Committee Meeting Frequency and Details: MSAC meetings will be held every other Tuesday. Meetings are scheduled by the Office of Admissions staff.
MSAC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
The Duluth Admissions Committee (DAC), the Medical Scientist (MD/PhD) Training Program Steering Committee (MSTPSC) and the Twin Cities Admissions Committee (TCAC) are standing subcommittees of the MSAC.
The responsibility of the Duluth Admissions Committee (DAC) is to annually recommend to the MSAC candidates for admission to the Duluth campus to carry out studies toward the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

Committee Meeting Frequency and Details: Recurring weekly meetings on Tuesdays from September through March
Meeting Agendas: To review, discuss, and vote on applicants who have interviewed with two members of our Duluth Admissions Committee. The outcomes for the candidates will be sent to the Medical School Admissions Committee (MSAC) for final approval. Agendas will include the Date and Number of Applicants to discuss.

The responsibility of the Medical Scientist (MD/PhD) Training Program Steering Committee (MSTPSC) is to annually recommend to the MSAC candidates for admission to the MD/PhD program to carry out studies toward the dual degrees of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Committee Meeting Frequency and Details: The MSTPSC meets after each interview day at a day and time scheduled by MSTP staff
