Faculty play a mission-critical role in all aspects of the Medical School. In the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA), we strive to help all faculty members advance in their work as clinicians, researchers and educators. We are committed to the professional development and academic success of all Medical School faculty members through the entire faculty lifecycle. Our many programs are designed to support faculty with grant writing, manuscript preparation, leadership development and much more.

Collaborating with the Medical Educator Development Scholarship (MEDS), OFA and MEDS distributed a faculty needs assessment to establish a benchmark analysis of common competencies within academic medicine, evaluating current levels of expertise and desire to master. The assessment provided several topics within predetermined competencies related to the faculty lifecycle and asked faculty members to identify their current level of expertise and desire to master these topics. These core competencies include: Scholarship; Teaching and Learning; Professionalism; Leadership; Well-Being; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Community Engagement; Anti-Racism.
