Welcome to the home of the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Faculty are an integral and valued resource at the Medical School. They are essential to helping the Medical School achieve its mission to enhance the health of people by educating the next generation of physicians and scientists.
OFA works to strengthen and sustain a vibrant and welcoming culture at the Medical School that fosters excellence in clinical settings, education and research. Our purpose is to support the life-long career development of faculty with a supportive working environment, meaningful guidance, effective training and impactful resources. Through OFA and on this site, individual faculty, senior leaders, and departmental and unit leadership teams gain access to a wealth of information and resources designed to help them thrive.
Mission:
The University of Minnesota Medical School was founded in 1888 to serve the healthcare needs of Minnesota. The Office of Faculty Affairs strives to strengthen and sustain a fertile and inclusive culture at the Medical School that promotes the life-long career development of faculty, the advancement of effective leaders and the vitality of a diverse faculty body. Rahel Ghebre, MD, MPH, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs
Dr. Ghebre leads the Office of Faculty Affairs, overseeing strategic efforts to support and advance faculty development and affairs for faculty members across the school. Dr. Ghebre is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and a practicing gynecologic oncologist at M Health Fairview. Dr. Ghebre is an internationally recognized educator in gynecologic oncology and received the 2020 International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Award for Excellence in Teaching. In addition, she co-leads the Early Pathway to Success Program for women faculty through the Center for Women in Medicine.
David Ingbar, MD, Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and Mentoring
Dr. Ingbar joined the Office of Faculty Affairs in 2022, as Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and Mentoring, providing leadership and strategic direction for mentoring and career development for faculty members across the school. Dr. Ingbar is the Director of Research Education, Training, and Career Development Core in the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Prior to this OFA role, he served for more than 20 years as Director of the Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care & Sleep Division in the Department of Medicine.
