Center for Educational Innovation

The Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) advances the University of Minnesota’s teaching and learning mission by providing research-informed, transformative, and inclusive leadership in teaching and learning across the University of Minnesota system. CEI's mission is to:

  • Lead and support strategic, institutional educational initiatives that advance the commitments of the systemwide strategic plan, especially around Student Success and Community and Belonging.
  • Accelerate educational transformation in academic units through long-term change initiatives. They engage at the unit level to anticipate and respond to the changing educational landscape.
  • Partner with academic leaders across campuses, colleges, divisions, and departments to provide expertise, resources, and facilitation that advance educational priorities.
  • Support and partner with those who teach. We offer a range of ways for instructors in the university community to engage with our expertise.

Services CEI provides include:

Pedagogical Innovations Journal Club - The club was created to help busy instructors from across disciplines keep up with some of the latest innovations, ideas, and research published in pedagogical journals. Each month’s discussion focuses on a recently-published, teaching- or learning-related article. The open forum provides opportunities for participants to discuss the practical implications of the research findings with other.

Teaching Enrichment Series - This series of programs focuses on practical approaches to teaching and learning that participants can implement in their classes the upcoming semester. They bring together the energies, expertise, insights and questions of faculty, instructors, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.

Recorded Webinars - CEI records most of their live webinars and makes them available for enrollment through Training Hub. After enrolling in a section, participants will receive an email with a link to the recording and accompanying resources.

All sessions are delivered online via Zoom. Visit their website for additional offerings, session descriptions, and registration.
