Associate Professor, Martina Bazzaro, Ph.D., was recently featured in a University of Minnesota press release highlighting research into the GSL1 protein. A large amount of the GSL1 protein was thought to correlate with a gene mutation that occurs in up to 60% of clear cell ovarian cancer cases. However, investigators from the U of M Medical School and the Masonic Cancer Center (including Dr. Bazzaro) found evidence that challenges this idea and that indicates GLS1 instead has a protective benefit.
