Next Gen STEMM: For Future Medical Professionals

Next Gen STEMM is a one-day educational event designed for undergraduate students who are interested in careers in medicine, research, and other health professions. Hosted by the Center for Multicultural Affairs and Engagement (CMAE) and the University of Minnesota Medical School, the program provides participants with meaningful exposure to the medical school environment and the pathways available within STEMM fields.

Through interactive sessions and networking opportunities, participants engage with current medical students, physicians, researchers, admissions representatives, and academic leaders. The event includes research poster presentations, panel discussions, and a Lunch and Learn session focused on preparing for future careers in medicine and health sciences.

Goals of the event include:

  • Increase awareness of educational and career pathways in medicine, research, and health professions
  • Provide students with opportunities to connect with medical students, physicians, researchers, and admissions representatives
  • Offer insight into the medical school experience, research opportunities, and professional development
  • Support students as they explore and prepare for future applications to medical and health professional programs

Next Gen STEMM is open to undergraduate students from the University of Minnesota and the surrounding community who are interested in learning more about careers in medicine, research, and the health sciences.

The program is offered annually; additional information about future events will be shared when available.
