Rosemary Kelly, MD

Dr. Kelly completed medical school at the University of Chicago and general surgery training at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. She completed cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota in 1999. Upon graduation, she joined the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division where she became Professor with Tenure in 2011. In 2017, she became the C. Walter and Richard C. Lillehei Professor and Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Kelly was promoted to Executive Vice Chair of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in 2022 and serves as Chief, Heart and Vascular Service Line for M Health Fairview, a $5 billion healthcare system.

Dr. Kelly currently serves as Secretary of the AATS and is focused on creating a spectrum of opportunities for professional development of the CT surgeon. In her roles as Program Director of the Thoracic Surgery Residency at the University of Minnesota and Vice-Chair of Clinical Faculty Development, she understands the need to support education, mentorship, and innovation for cardiothoracic surgeons at all stages of their careers.
