Surgical Knowledge and Outcomes Lab (SKOL)
SKOL turns surgical data into evidence that drives better care.
The Surgical Knowledge and Outcomes Laboratory (SKOL) at the UMN Department of Surgery studies how surgical treatments shape patient outcomes and healthcare systems. We transform this evidence into insights that advance practice, improve care, and guide the future of surgery.
The SKOL group utilizes various data sources, including AHRQ's Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP), EPIC Cosmos, Merative Marketscan, NIH's All of Us, M Health Fairview Clinical data, and more.
The SKOL group meets once per month on the first Thursday of each month.
