Support Residents doing Humanitarian Work

By making a gift to the Justin Goodhue Humanitarian Scholarship, you are gifting an opportunity for residents to travel around the world to do humanitarian work. For most residents, receiving this scholarship provides their first opportunity to go on a medical mission, to join a surgical camp, or participate in a global rotation. Residents come home with a new passion to incorporate global health into their careers as providers. 

This fund honors Dr. Justin Goodhue, an extremely gifted, yet incredibly humble true humanitarian. Justin was passionate about helping others and stated this was the reason he went into medicine. This scholarship provides future generations of residents the opportunity to honor and carry out Justin's vision.

By making a gift to the Jorgensen Global Nursing Scholarship, you are providing opportunities for nurses to transform patients lives in under-resourced settings by participating in University of Minnesota global surgery initiatives. Nursing is a vital component of a multi-disciplinary global surgery team. 

This fund honors Mark's legacy as a caring person and passionate world traveler who used his talent as a photographer to capture individuals' unique personalities across the globe. This fund was also established as a tribute to his granddaughter's commitment to using her RN skills to help people receive treatment in areas where modern medical care is limited.

Help Women with Breast Cancer from All Around the World

By making a gift to the Global Breast Cancer Fellowship Fund, you are supporting an innovative program that trains doctors from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to become breast cancer experts. After completing this 1-year fellowship, trainees return to their home countries and lead efforts to improve breast cancer outcomes in their communities. 

This is the only breast fellowship in the United States that is dedicated to training physicians in LMICs.

Inspire UMN Medical Students

By making a gift to the Scheffler International Medical Mission Trip Award, you are gifting an opportunity for medical students to join medical mission trips through the University of Minnesota. For most students, this will be a their first experience doing humanitarian work. Students often come home inspired to get more involved in their local community and have an increased interest in pursuing a career in global health.

This fund was created through the generosity of Russell and Kathyrn Scheffler in appreciation for medical treatment received at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Masonic Cancer Center from Dr. Todd Tuttle.
