The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) recently published a report on liver transplant outcomes. For transplant candidates, the report determined the Department's Liver Transplant Program with the University of Minnesota Medical Center to have the highest post-liver transplant survival rating in the nation.

The Liver Transplant Program is one of 16 other programs across the nation to hold a 5/5 status as reported by SRTR criteria.

"For the last ten years, our multidisciplinary teams have been continuously working hard and made incremental quality and process improvements to achieve this goal,” said Srinath Chinnakotla, MD, Surgical Director for the Liver Transplant Program and Executive Medical Director of Pediatric Abdominal Transplantation.

The recent ranking attributes the outstanding care provided to patients by the Liver Transplant Program personnel that include - teams of pre and post-coordinators, social workers, dieticians, intensive care unit staff, pathologists, clinical staff, interventional endoscopists, radiology teams, quality teams, program managers, hepatologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and surgeons.
