Jeffrey Chipman, MD

Dr. Chipman has been an active researcher in basic, clinical, and educational science and in has received industry, society, and government research awards, including an $11 million Department of Defense grant to study the effectiveness of simulation in combat casualty care training. In medical education he has studied the effect of simulation training in the development of surgical, professionalism, and communication skills. He has been an active contributor to HIV research to identify the viral hiding place or “reservoir.” Much of this work has been done in East Africa, where Dr. Chipman has also worked to quantify the burden of surgical disease and create partnerships to expand surgical capacity in the country of Uganda.
