Why did you choose the University of Minnesota Medical School and what do you like about it?

I chose the University of Minnesota because I was really impressed by the candor and self-awareness they demonstrated when discussing inequities and areas for growth within their own hospital system. Being somewhere with like-minded people who are always striving to do better in these areas is important to me. I have felt very supported throughout my medical journey by everyone in the administration, and I appreciate how willing my peers are to always offer help whenever it's needed. There is definitely a sense of community here at the U of M.

Have you participated in any student organizations? If so, why did you select those organizations and what has been your experience?

I was part of the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG), the Integrative Health Education Action League (I-HEAL), and the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). Each of these groups allowed me to engage in different areas of medicine that I'm passionate about and interact with the community outside of the university. I really enjoyed the collaborative spirit of all of the organizations, and it was incredibly fulfilling to organize opportunities to share new information and skills with my peers.

Favorite activities to do in the Twin Cities?

I really enjoy the performing arts community here and am part of a community choir. I also love seeing the Minnesota Orchestra perform and attending theater performances.
