Name: Michael Kim, MD

Hometown: Milwaukee, WI

Undergraduate: BS in Physics with a Minor in History of Science, Technology, and Medicine from University of Minnesota

Hobbies: Running, ultimate, hiking, listening to music, playing guitar, and board games.

Languages I speak: English, Spanish (elementary proficiency)

Furthest I've traveled from home: Arusha, Tanzania where I worked at Selian Hospital

Favorite activity in the Twin Cities: Spending time outdoors with my family, including Dagny (13), Julian (4), and Arlo (1) in our backyard or at one of the many parks in the area.

Why I chose this specialty: I am an Internal Medicine & Pediatrics Academic Hospitalist who loves working with both children and adults. Every day I work I look forward to the challenges and joys of working with a wide variety of patients, staff, and learners.

Why Medicine: The short answer is because I love it.  The honest answer is that my father told me to do it.  The real answer is that it is so rewarding to both be cognitively challenged while at the same time being invited into the life of an individual at a vulnerable point in their lives.
