Ready, Set, Go!

WHAT IS IT?

An optional (not mandatory) resource to support actionable DEI efforts across the Medical School. We hope this is a way in which we can all move forward together, but go about this work in ways that fit our values, our time, our stakeholders, our best interests, and our needs.

WHAT'S THE POINT?

To have action-oriented intentionality in DEI practices across the Medical School to engage all stakeholders. We have heard many requests from our DEI community asking for guidance on how to engage colleagues and students in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. We intend for this to be a way in which we continue our DEI growth across the Medical School and to encourage collaboration and psychological safety among community.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We offer this as a way for you to create individual and collective action. Our office will share quarterly themed processes recommending how to engage. We ask you to approach this initiative in ways that work best for you and your department, modifying as needed. Please make sure to CONTACT US regarding stories and photos of the work you do so we can highlight your efforts in our monthly newsletter!

Month 1: Get Ready!

Departments can prepare and learn more about the quarterly theme with articles, publications, videos, and books.

Month 2: Get Set!

Departments can collaborate and discuss concepts with colleagues for continued learning. A simple activity can be to plan a group discussion on the RSG Theme in your DEI Committee or in other department spaces.

Month 3: GO!

Departments can take action to implement new ideas or practice what they've learned with colleagues.

CURRENT READY, SET, GO! THEME: WORKPLACE WELLBEING

The University of Minnesota continues to find ways to meet the workplace wellbeing needs of its 40,000+ staff and faculty. With the initiation of Work. With Flexibility., we have been given options to meet our individual work/life harmony needs. However, there is always more we can do for ourselves at the individual level -- and that of our team/division/department levels. For this quarter of Ready, Set, Go!, we encourage you to find out how to do just that!

More information about this quarter's theme can be found here. Please share this PDF with your colleagues!
