ODEI Announces First COVID-19 Microgrant Recipient: Vaccination Pop-Up for Lunar New Year
The University of Minnesota Medical School’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion recently announced its first COVID-19 microgrant recipient.
Microgrants are targeted for projects that are ongoing and need additional resources or a pilot project that needs funding to get it started. Projects must be in the area of something that will overcome COVID-19 health disparities with a focus on marginalized communities.
The first project to receive funding, led by Chinese American Chamber of Commerce - MN (CACC-MN), hosted two COVID-19 vaccination pop-up events in January targeting the Chinese American community, in order to “have a better and safer Lunar New Year Celebration.”
The group used the funds to give a $50 giftcard to each person that received a COVID-19 vaccine or booster to incentivise members to get vaccinated.
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is accepting applications for COVID-19 microgrants on a rolling basis. The microgrants will range from $100-2,000.
