Year in Review: 2022 Learning and Development Initiatives
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) Learning and Development Team has been hard at work cultivating relationships with faculty and staff across the Twin Cities and Duluth Medical School campuses. Learning and Development Managers Matthew Amundson, MEd, and Shanea Turner-Smith, MSW, LGSW, would like to thank the departments who have requested and participated in diversity, equity and inclusion foundational training offerings so far:
- Medical School, Duluth Campus, faculty and staff
- Cardiology
- Genetics, Cell Biology and Development
- Anesthesiology
- Office of Faculty Affairs
- Promotion and Tenure Committees
Each of these groups have worked hard to implement Implicit Bias and/or Bystander Interventions.
Attendees of these programs have also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate. One remarked that “the collaborative, joint approach to leading the sessions was very engaging. I also appreciated your ability to quickly balance comments in chats, engage in that way, as well as those of us who were electing to verbalize our comments.”
ODEI is looking forward to working with the Office of Admissions on developing training for micro-affirmations and allyship in addition to the Office of Graduate Medical Education on developing additional four-part foundational training series.
As the Learning and Development Team aims to launch additional innovative projects, they have also been meeting and collaborating with many offices across the Medical School. If you are interested in meeting with the Learning and Development team and/or having them facilitate training for your department or team, please contact them here.
