To Embody the Joy of Practice

Physician burnout, often associated with fatigue, emotional exhaustion, depression, and suicide among other physical and mental challenges, has been a topic of discussion and investigation in recent years. Especially in the present where we face many challenges such as healthcare disparities and the COVID-19 pandemic, the study and prevention of physician burnout is as important as ever. Recently the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) published recommendations stating that the use of arts and humanities may play an unpredicted role in preparing future physicians for challenges they may face in today's medical field. With this knowledge, the University of Minnesota Medical school has developed a new Center for the Art of Medicine which will be led by various doctors at the University of Minnesota. These doctors, including Ben Trappy, MD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, hope to create a centralized location for expression and sharing to promote resiliency and a sense of communities among those learning and working in the medical community To learn more about CFAM, please follow this link.
