Multi-Center Molecular Diagnosis and Host Response of Respiratory Viral Infections in Pediatric Transplant Recipients
Early and accurate diagnosis of respiratory viral infections (RVIs) among children who have received a hematopoietic cell transplant or solid organ transplant is important for improving outcomes and overall health among transplant recipients. The current tests we use to diagnose RVIs have substantial limitations. This study will use the latest laboratory methods to define for the first time those at risk for more severe RVIs following their transplant. Through this multi-center study organized through the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Transplant Network (PIDTRAN), we will use the information learned from this study to potentially reduce deaths and complications related to RVI in transplant recipients.
The University of Minnesota is participating as a site in this study under leadership of Dr. Beth Thielen. If you would like more information, please contact her by email at [email protected].
