Lauren Nichols, MD

Dr. Lauren Nichols grew up in Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota for medical school. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of California, San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Nichols cares for children and adolescents with a broad range of gastrointestinal and hepatologic conditions. Her clinical interests include nutrition, pediatric obesity and weight management, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD, or fatty liver disease). She is also passionate about medical education, quality improvement, and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. She strives to create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all patients and families.
