John Leister

Dr. Leister joined the Department of Pediatrics in July 2023 in the Division of Hematology/Oncology as an Assistant Professor. He completed his medical training in Des Moines, Iowa at Des Moines University - College of Osteopathic Medicine, and his Masters in Public Health from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health in 2024 with an emphasis in epidemiology. His residency training was completed in Des Moines, Iowa at Blank Children's Hospital, and subsequently completed his Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital in 2024. His clinical and research interests include the intersections of Immunology and Hematology including immune mediated cell destruction and acquired bone marrow failure conditions. He is also interested in the management of vascular malformations, acquired and congenital coagulation defects and nutritional anemia's including iron deficiency anemia.
