Dr. Wacker is an experienced critical care physician providing care to patients in the MHealth Fairview system's ICUs both at the bedside and via telemedicine. He is the ICU medical director at MHealth Fairview Southdale hospital, and participates in several quality and safety review efforts throughout the system. Dr. Wacker's educational efforts focus on the training of critical care fellows, particularly in the field of mechanical ventilation. He is one of the site instructors for the University's section of the NIH Fundamentals of Mechanical Ventilation course and he precepts new instructors for the course at other academic centers.
Dr. Wacker's research interests include clinical and translational research in the pathophysiology, identification and treatment of sepsis, septic shock, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). He has been an investigator on several clinical trials including the EVICT trial, the ALPS trial, and the STOP-sepsis trial. A full list of scholarly publications can be found here.
Dr. Wacker provides bedside care to ICU patients at MHealth Fairview system hospitals in the Twin Cities metro area, and telemedicine care to patients at system hospitals throughout the state of Minnesota.
