GI APP Summit - October 9-10, 2025

This two-day course offers APPs and other providers practical, up-to-date education on GI topics not often covered in training. Thursday features IBD, gut health, a keynote, and networking. Friday covers bariatric endoscopy, hepatology, pelvic floor dysfunction, and more. Interactive case discussions enhance learning through real-world scenarios. Open to all providers, with a focus on APP education. While the course is tailored for APPs, all providers are welcome.

Dr. Jack Vennes Annual Lecture - November 6, 2025

This lecture honors the legacy of Dr. Jack Vennes, Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota and internationally recognized pioneer in the field of pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. This year's keynote speaker will be Dr. Peter Draganov, Professor and Director of Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at the University of Florida - Gainesville. Dr. Ahmed Dirweesh reaches Exciting Milestone in Endoscopic Bariatric Therapy


Thanks to Dr. Ahmed Dirweesh’s leadership, we’ve officially launched our Primary Endoscopic Bariatric Therapy program at the University of Minnesota with two successful Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasties (ESGs) performed in April 2025. We also kicked off our revisional endoscopic bariatric program, completing two Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORe) procedures at East Bank and Southdale in our first month.

This program is administered by the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost.
