I started my academic journey at Reed College in Portland Oregon where I spent one immersive year in Dr. Janis Shampay's lab examining the role cell cycle dependency on telomere growth. This began my interest in bench research and preempted my journey to study medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA where I entered as a medical student in the Clinical and Translational Research Pathway a certificate program spanning four years of medical school where I enhanced my research background and experience and ultimately led to a formal year at the NIH as a Medical Research Scholar. At the NIH, in Richard Youle's lab, I focused on mitochondrial DNA replication during times of mitochondrial stress or mitochondrial damage. I continued this work in Cole Haynes' lab upon returning to UMass Medical where I finalized my medical education and received my MD. I complete my Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and went to complete General Cardiology and Advanced Multimodality Cardiac Imaging Fellowships from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. I am very excited to have joined the Division of Cardiology at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Professor.
