Dr. Jonathan Kirsch is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he practices hospital and addiction medicine. He serves as the Clinical Director of the Mobile Health Initiative and is Core Faculty in the Global Health Pathway. His clinical interests include care of underserved populations, inpatient medicine, substance use disorders, and community-based prevention.
Dr. Kirsch’s academic work focuses on expanding access to care through mobile health innovation, interprofessional education, and structural approaches to health equity. He founded and leads the University’s Mobile Health Initiative, which delivers preventive services across Minnesota in collaboration with local communities. He also directs the Interprofessional Migrant Health Rotation and previously served as a Fulbright Scholar in Colombia, advancing global health partnerships and clinical education.

Dr. Kirsch is board-certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine. His interests include the care of hospitalized patients with decompensated health conditions. As preventable factors cause most conditions seen in the hospital, his clinical and scholarly efforts focus on upstream initiatives to provide access to prevention and early detection for underserved communities.
