Dr. Lan Luu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota,
where she also serves as the Medical Director and Lab Director at the Community University Health
Care Center (CUHCC), a federally qualified health center located in South Minneapolis. Dr. Luu is an
internist and pediatrician with a particular focus on immigrant and refugee health, providing
comprehensive care to both adult and pediatric patients dealing with complex medical conditions.
She is also deeply committed to enhancing health care quality, optimizing workflow efficiency,
strengthening medical education, and advancing health equity. Dr. Luu's educational journey led her
to earn an undergraduate degree, Master of Public Health, and Medical Degree, all from the
University of Minnesota. She also completed her residency training in Internal Medicine and
Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Prior to her medical education, Dr. Luu worked as a
Vietnamese mental health case manager at CUHCC.
Dr. Luu provides comprehensive primary care across the lifespan, with a focus on chronic disease
management, complex care coordination, and immigrant and refugee health. She enjoys teaching
medical students and residents, fostering the next generation of physicians committed to
equity-focused primary care.
Dr. Luu’s academic interests include primary care innovation, quality improvement, medical education, and advancing health equity in underserved communities. She is particularly passionate about developing sustainable care models that reduce health disparities, improve access for immigrant and refugee populations, and integrate interprofessional team-based care into clinical practice.
