Dr. Baumann completed medical school at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA and completed residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, VA. Throughout her training and career, she has taken part in numerous global health trips to countries including Honduras, Dominican Republic, Jordan, and Zimbabwe. She has interests in global health, health disparities, medical education, hospital medicine, and mobile health clinics.
Dr. Baumann has been awarded the Program in Health Disparities Research Pilot Grant for a community-based participatory research project seeking methods to better identify and manage hypertension through the University of Minnesota Mobile Health Initiative. She also has previous experience on a project assessing the long-term effects of short-term medical trips on hypertension in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Baumann is a hospitalist and specializes in the care of hospitalized patients.
Dr. Baumann’s academic interests include teaching clinical skills to medical students, small group facilitation of medical school courses, and bedside teaching of medical students and residents.
