Viral Desai, MBBS

Dr. Viral Desai is an assistant professor of medicine in the University of Minnesota Cardiovascular Division. He earned his medical degree from Grant Medical College and the Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals in Mumbai, India, and completed internal-medicine residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He completed fellowships in cardiology and critical-care medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, with additional training in advanced echocardiography. Dr. Desai is a cardiac intensivist and echocardiographer whose clinical interests include the management of acute and complex cardiac conditions such as shock, acute coronary syndromes, advanced heart failure, and post cardiac-arrest care. His academic interests focus on cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). He also specializes in structural and interventional echocardiography, with a focus on valvular heart disease. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and echocardiography.
