The Division of General Internal Medicine brings together a diverse group of researchers, educators, and clinicians who are united in the mission of ambulatory patient care and have enthusiastically embraced many teaching and leadership roles. Together, we strive to positively impact patients and trainees while creating a national reputation for patient care, education, and research.

Advocacy

Members of our division are passionate advocates for change, taking part in various groups and activities that address issues at the national, state, local and university levels. The division includes a committee on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as a workgroup to address faculty wellbeing.

Research

Our faculty conduct research in a wide range of topics, including health disparities, innovations in medical education, behavioral health and lifestyle change, and optimizing clinical care and quality improvement. Faculty have presented their research findings at national meetings and published extensively in the literature in top tier journals.

Academic Clinical Programs

We seek to serve the diverse and growing population of Minnesotans by providing and modeling comprehensive primary care to adult patients. The division also includes a section of Health Psychology as a means to improve the mental health and well being of the patients we serve. We pride ourselves on our approach to educating learners and conducting research while improving clinical care.
