Dr. Andrea Elliott is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Minnesota, where she practices as a cardiac intensivist with expertise in cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), and post–cardiac arrest care. She serves as Associate Program Director of the General Cardiology Fellowship and developed the University's Cardiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship, for which she serves as Program Director. She is also the founder and director of the Critical Care Cardiology Education Summit, a national educational conference focused on advancing the field of cardiac critical care through hands-on simulation and collaborative learning.
Dr. Elliott earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed Internal Medicine residency, a Chief Residency, General Cardiology Fellowship, and a T32 Research Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. After serving as faculty in the Division of Cardiology, she completed additional fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine before joining the University of Minnesota faculty in 2020.
Her academic interests include cardiac critical care education, fellowship training, cardiac arrest outcomes, ECPR and extracorporeal life support, cardiogenic shock, post-intensive care syndrome, and outcomes research following critical illness. She has led numerous national educational initiatives and collaborates across institutions to advance training, guidelines, research, and systems of care in cardiac critical care.
