John R. Lake, MD, is a Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is the Executive Medical Director for Solid Organ Transplantation at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. He also serves as senior staff for liver at the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients.
Dr Lake’s clinical interests are in the care of patients with advanced liver disease including those undergoing liver transplantation and requiring post transplant care.
Dr. Lake’s research interests include management of acute liver failure, predictors of outcomes following liver transplantation and the allocation of organs for transplantation. He has authored more than 269 articles and more than 31 book chapters.
Dr. Lake is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the American society of transplantation and the International Liver Transplantation Society. He has served on the governing boards for the AASLD, AST and ILTS. He is a past Editor for Liver Transplantation and is on the Editorial Boards for several other scientifi c journals. In addition, Dr Lake is a past-president of the American Society of Transplantation, and of the US Organ Procurement and Transplant Network and United Network for Organ Sharing. He is also a past-chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine Test and Policy Committee on Transplant Hepatology.
