Clinician-Educator Pathway

Teaching skills are vital for resident success, and residents at the University of Minnesota are often passionate about teaching. The Clinician-Educator Pathway further develops the teaching skills of our residents and prepares residents for careers in medical education.

Pathway residents will participate in monthly educational seminars, in a teaching workshop, and in a 4-week long hands-on teaching elective. Experienced educators will observe pathway residents as they teach different levels of students and junior residents in a variety of venues and will provide targeted feedback.

Pathway residents will also complete a scholarly project related to teaching and/or education under the guidance of a clinician-educator mentor. Residents will receive career guidance and be encouraged to participate in medical education conferences.

Several of our faculty have completed advanced degrees in medical education from institutions around the world and will serve as key faculty to the clinician-educator pathway residents.
