Janet McGee is an instructor at the Mortuary Science program at the University of Minnesota. She graduated from the University of Minnesota's School of Mortuary Science in 2002 and worked as a licensed mortician for six years. In 2008, she began working at one of the largest banks in the U.S. and while there, attained her MBA. In 2016, her toddler son died from a product that did not meet safety standards and following his death, she spent six years advocating for consumer product safety at the local, national, and international level. She is a Minnesota licensed mortician and Certified Life Celebrant.
McGee is active with the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) and is a proud board member of Brighter Days Grief Center in Eden Prairie, MN, where she volunteers at children’s grief camp. She also serves on the Remembering a Life Committee at the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA). McGee is a member of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association (MFDA), the Cremation Association of North American (CANA), and the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association (NFDMA).
