The University of Minnesota’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD) combines rigorous scientific training with world-class medical education to cultivate the complete physician-scientist.

Our MD/PhD program is funded by the National Institutes of Health to develop the next generation of physician scientists. Our mission is to train and support an exceptional community of dedicated students to become physician scientists who are able to integrate their scientific, clinical, and leadership skills to promote human health. We bring together outstanding, motivated student-leaders and experts in the field for a supportive training experience that is both challenging and rewarding.

Successfully pursuing the physician scientist career path through an MSTP requires a true passion for scientific investigation and patient care.
