Residency Preparation
Residency Preparation

We work one-on-one with our students to ensure they have the best possible chance to thrive as residents. We believe in the full continuum of education, and seeing our students succeed at each stage of their career. As a result, many of our students match to residency programs across the state, country, and world, that suit their interests and special skills.

At the University of Minnesota Medical School, we value diverse points of view and people from diverse backgrounds. Through our supportive community structure and myriad of flexible options, we work to accommodate students' unique interests and talents.

Research Strengths

Our research ranges from investigating the innermost workings of cells to analyzing health data at a population level. Our researchers thrive in an environment where cross-discipline teamwork is valued, encouraged, and rewarded. In partnership with many biomedical and health science specialists across the University, our faculty work to untangle today’s biggest medical challenges and understand the underlying science behind them.

Teaching Hospitals and Clinics

Medical students train at a variety of clinics and training hospitals in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area and throughout the state of Minnesota. Without competing forces from other medical schools, students have access to various healthcare systems, quality clerkship experiences, and multiple specialized elective experiences.

Community Involvement

Our Medical School allows students to experience community engagement throughout their training at the University of Minnesota. With early exposure to patients in the first-year required community service learning component, and volunteer opportunities through various student-run community clinics and advocacy groups, students can satisfy their interest in serving and improving the human condition.
