I specialize in all voice and upper airway care services, including professional speaking & singing voice, cough/ throat clearing, vocal cord dysfunction & other functional breathing concerns, and identity-affirming care.  I also enjoy presenting and collaborating on a variety of voice and upper airway research.

Research Summary

At the Lions Voice Clinic, I have collaborated on a team led by Dr. Stephanie Misono that asks questions and solves problems related to the underpinnings of healthy and disordered voice and speech production.  Accordingly, I value the use of research to inform my clinical practice.  I have assisted in probing the relationship between psychosocial distress and voice behaviors.  I have also assisted Dr. Peter Watson at the University of Minnesota in research to better understand respiratory mechanics in Western-Classical singers.  Current research interests include pursuing a better understanding of how psychosocial distress affects various facets of gender identity.  Drawing on my experience as a clinical voice specialty speech-language pathologist, I am interested in seeking improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of patient populations, and improvements in the mentorship of graduate and clinical fellows who seek to work in the specialty area of voice.  Broadly, my research interests and clinical experiences involve all aspects of voice, irritable larynx, and skills within the voice specialty area of speech-language pathology.  Specifically, I have an interest in advancing the care of people with functional voice and laryngeal breathing disorders, as well as individuals along the gender spectrum.
